Our client company, a leader in the steel industry, is currently interviewing for a Rolling Mill Operations Supervisor. This position will be responsible for the maintenance and daily operations of the rolling mill and related processes. Will be required to work 12-hour rotating shifts with team.

Additional responsibilities include:

•Determine where and when roll changes should take place, and what orders should be run after roll change occurs.
•Adjust production schedule for sequence breaks and Roll Shop conditions.
•Coaching and mentoring team members, providing technical support and training of Mill personnel
•Assist in hiring, training, and disciplining hourly team members, as well as administration of time sheets
•Oversee safety and housekeeping processes required to insure hourly associates are working in a safe and secure environment
•Enforce and ensure that all company policies and procedures, including Administration Policies, Safe Job Procedures, and Lock-Out Procedures are adhered to by all team members, as well as assist in reviewing and revising these procedures
•Monitor Key Process Variables, and correct out of control processes
•Monitor the production schedule on a shift-to-shift basis
•Initiate the investigation of equipment failures and operational problems and implement necessary changes to fix the problems while on the off shift
•Coordinate maintenance activities with the Maintenance Team Leader in regards to planned and unplanned maintenance, PPM’s and downturn activities
•Responsible for auditing the effectiveness of and adherence to the standard work
•Facilitating improvement of the standard work on the floor
•Training hourly associates on the standard work
•Ensure that the quality of the product meets and exceeds the requirements of the customer, both internal and external

Job Skills/Requirements

•BS Degree is desired but will also consider AS Degree or equivalent experience
•Must have at least 3 years of managing the operations & maintenance of a rolling mill
•Expertise in hot rolling operations
•Preference given to those who have served as a safety team leader or have demonstrated safety leadership
•Proficiency with CMMS software
•Experienced in leading continuous improvement activities
•Skilled in production delay analysis, Key Process Variables, standard work procedures
•Familiar with investigating equipment failures, PPM’s, and turndown activities
•Strong leadership skills in the areas of coaching, mentoring and training
